X> As I understand it, that card slot is for the digital video option.

that is currently the use for it...although $250 for the digital
video board is a bit expensive...I bought the CD-I player for $299
at a radio shack close out sale.

X> How do you like your CD-I anyway.... was it worth it ?

I love it. I use it for Kodak Photo-CD's and CD-I disks.

I don't think it would be hard to turn it into a full PC. the
problem is more with getting good software to put on the machine.
And finding a developer who can make the original "boot-cd".
(although I do not know how much ram the machine has).

I mean, you could put a Shell, WP, spreadsheet, etc on a
disk...and attach a floppy-drive and keyboard to one of the
serial-ports. Hard-drives would be a bit harder to interface, and
would probably need a 'multi-pack-like' interface for the card-slot
in the back of the machine.

But I don't know if there is much of a market for such a
product...and without a big-enough market the software will not
evolve. Give CD-I a year or two to catch on, then see what's
available.
