LSM510 Meta - COM1 read time out errors - HELP!

We recently purchased a new LSM510 Meta, but since day 1 are having problems starting the machine. When initiating the LSM software, we get errors reporting of a "COM1 read time out". We haven't a clue as to what can cause this. Resetting the COM1 parameters perhaps? The service came once already to replace a "board", but this problem still persists.
