Information/Communications Specialist Rural Civil Society Program - Mongolia ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Overview of Pact Pact is an international nonprofit corporation founded in 1971. Pact's mission is to contribute to the growth of civil societies - where citizens acting together can express their interests, exchange information, strive for mutual goals and influence government. Pact accomplishes this by targeting our efforts on strengthening the community-focused nonprofit sector worldwide and by working with strategic partners to identify and implement participatory development approaches at the community level that promote economic, social and environmental justice. Pact concentrates its work on institutional capacity building by providing training, technical assistance and small grants to individual organizations and networks of indigenous development agencies. The organizational goals center on four areas: programmatic excellence, financial sustainability, administrative competence, and dissemination of quality resources to development practitioners worldwide. Within programmatic excellence, Pact focuses on six core areas: capacity building, forging coalitions and networks, building democracies, grants management, exit strategies, and monitoring, evaluation and reporting. Pact maintains field offices in Africa (Angola, Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe), Asia (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal and Vietnam) and Latin America (Peru). Pact HQ is the point of coordination between and among all Pact offices and is ultimately responsible for ensuring program goals are met, reporting is accurate and timely, and accounting for all equipment and funds is correct and complete. The Position Pact, Mercy Corps International (MCI)and Associates in Rural Development, Inc. (ARD) have formed a coalition in response to the Mongolia Rural Civil Society Program (RCSP).
