         On-Line Radio Station Launched at Birzeit University

15 October, 1998

The Birzeit University Computer Center is proud to announce the launch of
the first internet radio station in Palestine - BZU OutLoud. OutLoud will begin
broadcasting over the internet this Saturday 17 October at 3pm local time (GMT
+02).

Each week, a half-hour show will cover issues from the perspective of the
university  community, including news, interviews, culture and music. The shows
will be hosted  by Birzeit University students and available in both Arabic and
English. OutLoud aims  to use the web as a vehicle for expressing the genuine
voice of Palestinians living in the West Bank and as a means to encourage a
wider number of people to produce material over the internet.
