Several articles in one book

I'm creating a thesis bibliography, and have run into an interesting
problem: I have multiple cases where I am entering more than one article
from the same edited collection, such as a festschrift. I'm wondering if
there is some way of including both the volume (as an edited book) and the
articles (as articles or book sections) in such a way that I can
automatically refer to the [already-made] book entry in the article
entries?

Just to expand and complicate things, I also have at least two cases where
the collection is made up of previously-published essays by a single
author. My advisor, who is (correctly) a stickler for exhaustive
bibliographic procedure, feels that I should include the original
publication info as well as that for the current appearance. What is the
best way of doing this?

many thanks,
joann zimmerman
