Is there a requirement for the electronic publication of EndNote Libraries? I
have noticed that there is a fair amount of in-house electronic publishing of
bibliographies using EndNote. As an erstwhile book publisher who is now helping
to distribute and support EndNote in the UK and Europe it occurs to me that
there might be some call for commercial electronic publishing. If this were to
happen at least the following would be necessary: (1) someone (or group) to
select, develop and maintain bibliographies for electronic publication; (2)
some sort of quality control, (3) someone to publicize and distribute
libraries, (4) sufficient users who would value such a service. If one were to
seriously investigate the question it would seem to be worth starting with a
reference library which was generally recognised as being very good and useful,
reasonably large, not too narrow, and requiring updates. Does anyone have or
know of such a database. Do users have strong views about the ethics,
practicality, or viability of this? Is all that needs to be done in this area
already adequately covered by the current awareness services on the one hand,
or informal sharing on the other hand?
