First of all, you are asking in the wrong place: this is the EndNote list
and so people are already committed ;-)

For a more free and open debate, subscribe to BIBSOFT
(LISTSERV@INDYCMS.BITNET) where there are a few more Reference Manager
partisans.

Anyway, we just evaluated Reference Manager, and these are my impressions:

1. EndNote has a much better interface: we are committed to making things
easy and seamless. Reference Manager shows its DOS roots and requires
people to go through a number of complex dialogs, as well as creating two
seperate files that must be merged to create a formatted paper.

2. EndNote has 15 possible reference types, which can be modified.
Reference Manager has six, with minimal customization. In addition, they
don't have an Issue field in Journal Article references.

3. EndNote allows you to search on the whole database text: Reference
Manager requires you to specify a field.

4. EndNote lets you sort on any five fields you want. Reference Manager
limits you their pre-defined formats.

5. EndNote has style functions for Physical Sciences, Psychology,
Humanities, Liberal Arts and other disciplines. Reference Manager is
designed for Biomedical Sciences, so there are fewer tools.

6. EndNote has a Plug-In Module for Word 5 (Mac only). EndNote Plus knows
about the Windows clipboard and can copy citations into it (PC only)

-----------------

Reference Manager has a global search-and-replace and authority lists:
these are nice features and we hope to add them soon.
