Message to Niles:

Have any of the suggestions regarding typestyles been considered?

Two Ideas:

1. Allow some typestyles to be represented with codes. Either the
same code to indicate starting/stopping for that typestyle, or different
codes. So that I could, for instance, get

	  Stephen Greenblatt, _Renaissance Self-Fashioning_

		or

	  Stephen Greenblatt, \buRenaissance Self-Fashioning\eu

into the clipboard. Then a handy macro could convert what's inside
the "_" characters to italics or whatever.

Thus: two modes for formatting textstyles. Either the textstyle as
understood as an attribute (real italics), or as a sequence of ascii
codes which would greatly facilitate exporting through the clipboard
  or into ascii files.

I might add that if you could read this from an import file, the whole
problem of losing data during export/import to a REFER format would
  go away.

2. Make it possible to have embedded italics converted to "plain"
when that text is enclosed in what a format wants to have in italics.

I have numerous entries where a book title refers to a title; so the
embedded title is in italics. (E.g., Closure in Joyce's _Ullyses_).

When that is formatted into a style that puts titles in italics, the
_Ulysses_ part should be unitalicized, as many of the major style manuals
   recommend.

Many of us have made numerous suggestions for improvements. Perhaps Niles
could post some sense of their idea of what the highest priorities are.
