I just briefly tested Nisus Writer 4.06, Tex-Edit Plus 1.2,
First Class Client 2.6 and EndNote 2.0 for their ability to
transfer and receive formatted text from one another. The
two winners are Tex-Edit and First Class Client, which
successfully transferred text formatted bold, italic, green
or red between one another. Second place goes to EndNote,
which was able to receive from Tex-Edit or First Class
italic, bold or red but (strangely enough) not green
formatting. Text formatted bold or italic within EndNote
transferred successfully to Tex-Edit or First Class. It
seems EndNote has no provision for choosing the color of its
text, which may have something to do with its inability to
recognize green formatting. Unfortunately, Nisus Writer
finished in dead last place. All bold, italic, red or green
formatting copied from Tex-Edit, EndNote or First Class was
completely lost on pasting into Nisus Writer. All bold,
italic, red or green formatting copied from Nisus Writer was
completely lost on pasting into Tex-Edit, EndNote or First
Class. It seems clear that NW4 is not using Styled text
when it exports or imports the clipboard, at least not in
what appears to be a standard format.
