It is infuriatingly difficult to copy multiple references in the
new version of EndNote. soap box: Why do programmers have to mess up useful
features in new versions?
For example:
In version 1.x for DOS, to copy multiple references to paste into your
document, you would:
Type several letters of the first name of the first reference to get to
close to the reference you want; use the arrow keys to find the one you
want, then hit the space bar to select it;
For the next reference, you could simply type a few letters of the name
of the next reference, use the arrow keys to select the one you want,
then press SHIFT-space. etc., etc.
However, if you want to try to do this in the Windows version, you must:
Type several letters of the first name; the first occurrence will automatically
be selected. Use the arrow keys or the scroll bar to find the correct
reference. Now, to select another reference, HOLD DOWN THE SHIFT KEY while
typing several letters of the name of the next reference. It will
AUTOMATICALLY SELECT the first occurrence. If that's not the one you want,
you must CTRL-click on that reference, then scroll down and CTRL-click on the
reference you want (and whatever you do, DON'T USE THE ARROW KEYS or it will
de-select all of the selections that you have made!). To find another
reference, HOLD DOWN SHIFT and type a few letters. CTRL-click to de-select
the first occurrence, scroll down and CTRL-click on the correct reference.
etc, etc.
What's the advantage of making this so difficult?!?
