I am going to have to ask a big favor of all DIRECT SUBSCRIBERS TO THE LISTSERV. If your name is on the mailing list (NOT THE NEWSGROUP). I would like to ask you all to try to find some sort of access to the Usenet and subscribe to BIT.LISTSERV.FREEMASONRY. We have had phenominal troubles lately and it is all due to our use of the DIRECT MAILING LIST. If you use the newsgroup alone, do not worry. Continue getting the newsgroup as you are. If you are using the mailing list however, please consider trying to either find a Usenet access to newsgroups or try to find a local BBS that carries FIDO and ask the sysop to pick up the Freemasonry echo. FIDO is VERY widely used in the BBS community. If you are already using a BBS it is likely already accessing some if not all FIDO echos. If Freemasonry is not one of them, simply ask the sysop to pick it up. I'm sure he will be glad to do it. I hate to ask you guys to try and locate alternatives and this does not apply to the newsgroup users, just the mailing list users. The reason I am asking you is because we will likely have to sacrifice the mailing list soon in order to keep the newsgroup and FIDO gate going. The listserv malfunctioned a few weeks ago and caused a lot of garbage to go downline to sites all over the globe. If it happens again we may well be shut out of the Internet altogether (newsgroup and listserv both). This is an important request. if you absolutely have no alternatives, please let me know. This may work if we simply have only a few people on the list rather than 43 as we do now.
