Earlier Mark G. said: MG>The Order is open to all brethren and is focused on the historical MG>figure Judah Maccabee who, in the 160`s B.C., fought and defeated, MG>despite tremendous odds, the armies of Antiocus IV (a.k.a. MG>Epiphanes) who at the time had control over Judea. Judah MG>Maccabee`s reasons for fighting were freedom both from the MG>oppression of a foreign ruler, as well as religious freedom. MG>Antiocus IV had subjugated Judea to the point of having them turn MG>away from their faith in favor of the Helenistic faith pushed upon the MG>m by their Greek ruler. Judah`s father, Mattacias, was the Rabbi MG>of one of the larger temples which was invaded by the Greeks, the MG>altar torn down, and the temple rededicated to Zeus. Mattacias MG>and his followers fled to the hills, however he died shortly after MG>their escape. Judah, having had clerical training while growing MG>up, took over as their leader and led a small army from the hills MG>against Antiocus IV and finally claimed victory. The Order MG>teaches the value of believing in yourself, the power of faith, MG>and the necessity that men be free to follow their own paths. Mark, Thanks for this overview of OJM. That's wild! I would say whoever designed the degrees took heavily from the temple degrees of York Rite. With this in mind, I wouldsee no problem accepting their equality to the Temple degrees of YR. From your story, it sounds like the lessons to be learned in the two separate allegories is pretty close to being completely the same (if not completely).
