There is no practical means to expand the memory of a TI-85, that I know
of.  TI would do better at answering that question.

There is no way to DELETE variables within programs.  But, you can reduce
the amount of space taken up by certain types of variables (ie lists,
matricies, vectors, and strings)
the following commands work for their respective variable types:

:dimL 0 ->list name ?(don't have guidebook with me) -lists
:dim 0,0 ->matrixname ?   - matricies
:dimL 0 ->vectorname ??   - vectors
:""->stringname           - string
