I am sorry if this question has been asked many times before, but i have
only subscribed to this list as i havnt got an answer anywhere else.

My problem is that one of our vmarchive PRIMARY volumes has become corrupted.
The TWIN volume is fine, but what i want to do is create a new primary from
the existing twin.

I have seen that archive utility VMADBR can do this with the COPY command, but
this requires 3 cartridge (tape) decks and we do not have that here. I cannot
see why it should need to create both new primary and twin volumes, as we
already have the twin.

I have tried to do a normal style tape copy, but the volume in question is
the BASE volume of a set of two. This seems to be causing problems with the
copying. When a copy is made, and used it mounts ok and is recogonised by the
system, but when the tape runs of the end it fails  saying that
an error occured reading the tape TRAILER LABEL.

Possibly if somebody could describe the format of an archive volume then i
could patch (bodge) one together. Is there an EOT mark between the end of the
data and the trailer label, and is the trailer label anything special
or is it just a file type thing.

Any help would be appreciated.
