While looking for a solution to the problems of disaster recovery of
VM/Archive, I decided to give Syncsort a call to see how their archive
product addressed this issue.  Unfortunately, their product suffers
from the same architectural drawbacks as VM/Archive.  However, they
are very interested in disaster recovery.  Their Syback product is
popular for disaster recovery and they'd like to add disaster recovery
support to their archive product if their was enough interest.

Syncsort asked me for names and telephone numbers of people who have
been discussing this problem with me to try to get an idea as to how
interested people are in this type of feature.  I told them that I
would not give them any names or numbers unless someone told me
specifically to pass this information on to them.

If you are interested in disaster recovery support for you archive data
and are willing to talk with Syncsort about your requirements please
send me your name, telephone number, userid, node, and the name of
your shop.  I'll pass this information onto Syncsort.  If their is
enough interest in this topic they may consider changing the design
of their product to meet these requirements.
