Paul: Since the expiry dates are also written on the tapes, the next time weekly is run, it would like ask to override the expiry and use the tapes again. Since the data is already backed-up, you might as well just change the expiry dates in the tapepool (just becareful you only touch the tapes involved... use SET VERIFY in Xedit to help you). Our operators tend to get annoyed having to re-run a job (our weeklies can run as long as 22 hours), and even more so when they must respond to confirmation that they can overwrite the tapes previously used. For the sake of VMBACKUP being down and a few minutes work in Xedit, go for it! Regards, Paul BNR Mainframe Systems Support
