We are running VM/HPO Rel.5 , SLU 526 and VMSECURE 4.4A. Recently we tried to IPL a tape with the self-loading version of VMBSAR from our tape machines, in order to test whether and how restoring system residence disks via VMBSAR really works. Whereas there was never a problem to IPL a tape with DDR, VMBSAR 5.3 stays mute and does not respond to interrupts on the system console. If the system is up and I attach a tape to my virtual machine and then do an IPL 181, VMBSAR works as designed. The question is: Who has ever tried to IPL the self-loading version of VMBSAR 5.3 on a 3090 or similar hardware and has had success? Why do things go wrong on our installation?
