I haven't contacted SCI yet but will in next little while. In the meantime I would like some input from some of you who also back up database systems along with their routine CMS files on VM system. I have to tell you that VMBACKUP is doing a logical backup, so that if a file is non-cms a physical backup is then taken. First of all database systems should be shutdown prior to backup because of the fact that its data may be changing while VMBACKUP is trying to back up its mdisks. This is now standard practice here. A report is subsequently created by VMBACKUP and sent to the reader. I would like to be able to run an EXEC to view that file and/or be able to grab a return code form VMBACKUP during backup to tell me that the mdisk is indeed backed up properly in its entirety. Has anyone out there worked on a similar problem?
