From what I have heard, Yes the next upgrade is /E and is needed for
VM/ESA ESA 1.1. System Center is calling it a new product and they
want more $ for the upgrade.

The only technical data that I remember is that changes in VMBACKUP
make the tapes unusable to an older version of VMBACKUP.
This change was to allow the use of cart loaders with VMBACKUP.
