I'm not blindly in love with VMCENTER II, nor do we have more spare cash than anyone else out there, but I think Systems Center is justified in asking for more money. IBM does it routinely everytime they write a new version: look at VM, MVS, CICS, etc., and demands a LOT more money for it. Systems Center is redesigning/rewriting huge pieces of product and adding lots of code to exploit ESA function. On a Model Group 40, the upgrade fee is $13,300 compared to an annual maintenance fee of $24,000. It may be inconvenient, but it's hardly highway robbery.
