Hello all, My program director gave us a copy of an interesting paper on the M.D. / Ph. D. experience. The paper was "The Physician-Scientist: Dual or Dueling Degrees?" David A. Shaywitz, Harvard Medical Alumni Bulletin, Summer, 1995. As you might surmise from the title, the article discusses whether the two degress act synergistically or if we will always be torn between lab and clinic. Shaywitz interviewed a number of prominent scientists who gave their opinion, as scientists are known to do. I found the article interesting, but didn't read anything earth-shatteringly new on the subject. Brian M. Block Case Western Reserve University Neurosci 6/8, yes that is a 6.
