I just expected someone else to post this solution. While I admit that ftping from Japan, Australia, or even Texas is very exciting. I do have problems using those network resources for training purposes. Since the training I've done & will do is on using the Mac for ftp (Fetch makes it so easy, I'm almost ashamed to say I'm doing training). My students are excited to see that they can easily transfer files from their mac to the local unix fost and back again using ftp. These people don't necessarily need to ftp to Hong Kong. They are very happy to ftp to $HOME. The use of your own local resources solves a variety of problems and meets the need for supervised hands on experience.
