REPORT

Several persons have inquired about any forthcoming
"Navigating the Internet" workshops. I mentioned that it is
becoming a full time job, and that unless funding or support is
available to help in the administration of the workshop, I would be
unable to do it again.

The good news is that the Coalition for Network Information
(CNI), the Internet Society and Steve Cisler of Apple have
expressed an interest in finding support and funds to continue the
workshops. I'll be working with them for the next several weeks to
see if we can find a way to give the workshop again.

In any case, since I'm looking for new employment, I guess it
would behoove me to do it again. It is just a matter of doing it
solo for 500-1,000, in cooperation (Jim Gerland of the University
at Buffalo thinks we can surpass the 15,000 limit) for 15,000-
25,000 or in collaboration with a dozen or so international sites
for 50,000-150,000. We'll see.

I'm am working on coordinating a K-12 workshop.
Gleason Sackman of NoDak will be the principle instructor and Diane
Kovacs at Kent State will supply the listservs needed. If I get it
together that should be announced sometime within a month.

In related matters, Meckler has shown interest in a book that
follows the lessons of the workshop. I've submitted three articles
pertain to the workshop--the people at Educom Review, College and
Research Libraries, and SURAnet Connections will decide if my
writing is good enough for publication.

That is latest to report on "Navigating the Internet"
