----------- Original message below forwarded by NETTRAIN moderator ------------ Date: Wed, 10 Feb 93 10:07:59 EST From: Kathy S Brown <KATHY%BROWNVM.BITNET@UBVM.cc.buffalo.edu> In regards to the recent tips on doing a demo in a room without terminals, or locking monitors...if you have the chance to setup your room (new or change existing), what we have done here has worked very well. That is our training rooms are setup in a U configuration. Where there are tables in an inside U & the outside U tables along the walls have the machines on them. Chairs are on wheels. This enables all particpants to face the instrutor at the inside U - AWAY from monitors & keyboards for lecture & demo. When its time for hands-on, they turn to the machines. Added benefit is that the instructor can see all monitors easily and can offer assistance more readily. Drawback...can't fit as many machines in a room as the traditional row configuration & some participants resist the turning around. -kathy brown, computing & information services, brown university internet: Kathleen_Brown@brown.edu
