PLEASE NOTE: This is based on the suggestion and idea found in the
article by Thomas Keays on page 29ff in Online, January, 1993. People
here at UC Davis are very excited by prospects. If anyone knows of
limitations, problems with the tee command - please share them.
How its done across usercodes:
We have two people - primary and secondary.
Primary wants to show secondary a search on melvyl which primary will do.
Both log onto a computer running UNIX or Ultrix.
Secondary determines their device number/name with the command:
tty(enter)
The get back:
/dev/tty???
Secondary types the command:
chmod 622 /dev/tty???(enter)
Secondary is back at their system prompt.
Primary types:
telnet melvyl.ucop.edu | tee /dev/tty???(enter)
What primary sees is also seen on secondary's screen.
This should work to several remote terminals and to an output file for
logging the session, too. All remote terminals need to identify their
device name and do the 'chmod 622' command.
For two secondaries plus an output file the command would look like:
telnet melvyl.ucop.edu | tee /dev/tty?? | tee /dev/tty??? | tee file(enter)
look at:
man tee(enter)
