----------- Original message below forwarded by NETTRAIN moderator ------------ Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1993 13:39:31 EST From: JOHN BARR <barr@shrsys.hslc.org> (HSLC) For now I'll tell my class that the Gopher/Veronica "Boolean" search is a little buggy. But can anyone give a brief overview of what it's doing? For instance, if I do a single keyword Veronica search on coffee I get 25 or so hits. If I do a boolean Veronica search on coffee and tea I get 3 hits, all for coffee; so then if I do a single word _boolean_ search on coffee (surprise!) I the same three hits. So, boolean is searching a different index. What is it searching? Does anyone else have any examples of Veronica Boolean searches good or bad? Thanks again, John Barr Health Sciences Libraries Consortium Philadelphia, PA barr@shrsys.hslc.org
