Netscape 4.x is extremely stable, and IE 4 has a history of not only crashing but corrupting desktops when installed. IE 4 also seems to hog resources, particularly on NT, and doesn't always process JavaScript properly (though it's worlds better than IE 3). Netscape 4 is the standard browser for Children's Hospital. Granted, the full Netscape 4.x suite can cause problems with computers with either limited RAM or free disk space, and the Mac version is somewhat more volatile than its Windows cousin. For machines with limited resources, try the Navigator-only verison of 4.x, available at Netscape's Web site (http://home.netscape.com/download/index.html). One thing I have my eye on is Gecko, the new Netscape engine developed under the auspices of Mozilla.org. It's supposed to be extremely small (less than 1MB) and extremely fast, and I haven't heard anything bad about it yet. To boot, it will also finally give Netscape XML capability.
