Survey says....
Tis nobler to telnet.
Thank you all for your comments and suggestion to my recent questions =
about telnet - should it be included in an Internet course - will it =
continue it's usefulness. I promised a summary and here it is.
Many of you use telnet to access your e-mail and other mainframe/mini =
servers remotely (3).=20
Librarians and researchers use telnet to access college libraries and =
their online catalogs and databases. (4)
Telnet is used by small but loyal MUD/MOO, etc. communities. (2)
Other uses - For those with slow connections, disabilities, those who =
wish to manage servers remotely, and do other advanced stuff.
Many of you stated decreased attention to telnet. It seems telnet, =
gopher, FTP, and WAIS are taking a back seat, at least in training, to =
the Web.
Many thanks!
