To Teacher Educators

The NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) Training and Development
Directorate has developed an online course for K-12 teachers to help them
incorporate the teaching of information skills and internet use to students
as part of research assignments.

The course is called Net Returns Online and runs over 6-7 weeks within a
TopClass environment. It is a second level course for those who have some
experience with Internet use. It gives guidance in more effective searching
and information evaluation, as part of the information skills of Defining,
Locating and Selecting.

Two pilots were run very successfully in 1998 and full fee paying courses
will next be offered, probably beginning in March.

We are looking for teacher educators as guest participants in this next
round to vet the course as a possible offering to o/s teachers. We wish to
know more about its possible relevance and how it might "translate."

Further information on the course may be found at
http://www.tdd.nsw.edu.au/netreturns/returns.htm

Please contact me if you have any questions or are interested in being
added to our possible guest participant list.
