Hi all -- I use a relatively unsophisticated example that Internet protocols are like languages -- when the user makes a request (really the client app on behalf of the user), the language of communication is "declared." If the user says "I'm going to speak French" and the protocol is in "Dutch" then there are communication problems ;-) Angela ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Angela Elkordy Coordinator of Electronic Resources The Sage Colleges Libraries Albany and Troy, NY (518) 292-1734 elkora@sage.edu http://www.angelfire.com/in/virtuallibrarian ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
