About a month ago I posted an inquiry regarding requests for information
about opportunities to become certified as an Internet trainer. The
information I received is summarized below. Thanks to the three people
who responded (listed below).

Edwin Smith:
There's an article about proposed competencies for Internet
trainers at www.ITtalent.com. The specific links is:
http://www.ITtalent.com/certify.html

Dave Murphy:
ITrain, the International Association of Information Technology Trainers
will announce a
professional certification program for IT trainers, including those who
specialize in
Internet-related subjects.

We're finalizing the details now; however, we expect to begin accepting
applications as
early as this summer.

In the meantime ITTA, www.itta.org, has coordinated with ETS to offer a
certified
trainer designation.

(From Carine: info about the Certified Technical Trainer designation Dave
mentions above (via ETS) is available at:
http://www.chauncey.com/itt/cttp001.html. The web pages are copyright
1996 (they don't list any "last updated" information) and, the "home" page
(didn't read all of the others) has many typos. Has anyone completed this
CTT designation? I'd be interested in hearing about the process. Please
write me directly if you have insights into this certification option.
Thanks, CU)

Diane Kovacs:
A subgroup of Nettrainers working in a group called Net-Cert developed a
set of Internet Trainer competency guidelines and are continuing to work
on
developing study guides and tests...slow going because we all have
full-time jobs as well. 8). Please see

for the current document.
