Hi all --

as with any set of information resources, the decision about the use of
web sites is driven by the information need itself. Consider, for example,
a request for information on St. John's Wort:

1) for manufacturing specs or competitive intelligence -- you might look
at .com sites first
2) to learn whether it has received government approval -- .gov sites
3) to find research on use and effectivenesss for purpose -- .edu
4) to learn how folks are using it in the real world -- .net and personal
pages

Frequently I find that teaching others how to analyze their *actual*
information need is more a determining factor for eliminating or including
domains, than a sweeping "don't use .baddomain."
