If I can put my two cents in. I really can't see any relationship
between ~ (squiggle) sites and accuracy. I also feel it is
unfortunate that there is stigma (often well deserved) to FREE sites.

I have a number of mirrors on free sites. I won't go into my
qualifications, pedigree, author credits, etc but we work really hard
at providing a lot of free information and even book chapters at our
sites.

Why do we use free sites? Originally I had a single large site full
of various resources at a proper paid site. It was metered. Last
summer the site quadrupled in visits and bytes transfered. I realized
that if I continued, I could very well be bankrupted by a "no
ceiling" approach and had to find alternatives.

Free sites were one, transfering and refering people from the main
site to the satellite. Also more important the use of free services
has allowed us to use adobe acrobat and real audio on the sites both
high bandwidth, high byte processes.

I think many of the responses on this thread have been great. One
evaluates not on where the site is hosted, but on the various
criteria already mentioned.
