Please note that I did NOT say that I would discriminate -- just that if I
were comparing "tilde" sites from .edu w/geocities.com sites, I would be
more likely to discriminate against the freeweb site.

Frankly, I found that suggestion that "tilde" sites should be considered
"second class citizens" [or less] one of the more off-the-wall suggestions
for evaluations.

But the in-your-face [animated] ads that accompany "free sites" leave me, as
an end user, annoyed, as a general rule. But that's a separate issue.
