Response to U of Guelphs query. The UofM uses an NCS OpScan21 for exam scoring and course evaluations. The data collected is uploaded to the mainframe where our in-house system does the actual scoring and analysis. The main features of this system are: 1. Exam results are provided either in report form or on disk for further evalution by the professors. 2. An exam can have questions with a maximum of 5 or 10 choices each with up to 960 questions per student. 3. Each exam can be divided into 9 sections for the purpose are applying scoring factors (e.g. right minus wrong or weighting questions). 4. The report provides the following information for each student: number of questions attempted, number of questions answered correctly, the student's score, percentage of questions answered correctly, and percentage score using the scoring factors. 5. The other reports provided are: a frequency distribution chart and bar graph for scores, percentage scores, and percentage correct and a exam summary report which provides a breakdown on how each question was answered as well as the standard deviations and means for the scores, number of questions attempted, and the percentage correct.
