My present job involves typing letters and legal forms (affidavits, Land descriptions, etc.) I am physically located in a small office with a laser printer right beside me, a computer and my office door outlooks onto the hallway and elevators. They are painting, carpeting and renovating our office building (Built in 1957) Lately the volume and urgent nature of our typing has increased. I tried working through the paint fumes, dust and carpet glue but my vision has become so impaired that I can't focus properly anymore. I have a protective glare screen on my computer but there are flourescent lights above my chair. The window is to the right of me but I keep the curtains closed. The fumes from the elevators come into my office. I am worried that all this unhealthy atmosphere will affect my vision even worse. I have been out on certified sickleave for a week & will be home until June 1st. The problem is my eyes are swollen, under & behind. (the left one much more so than the right) Last week they were red and bloodshot as well. I also suffer from angio-neurotic edema with multiple allergies. I would like to know if I am aggravating my vision by trying to cope with all this typing? I can't wear my contacts at work and I can't focus properly with my tri-focal computer glasses because of the eye swelling. Should I be working on a computer at all? I intend to contact an eye specialist for their opinion. Thanks, EMC
