" On that note, I am looking for some good Physics and bioology of
sports stuff for about a 9th grade level (I am teaching a new class this
year for 9th graders that is a thematic interdisciplinary approach. We
have science, math, social studies and english.) Our first unit is sports
and I am looking for essays, labs etc. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks,

Doug,

Two books come to mind: "Newton at the Bat: The Science in Sports" edited
by Eric W. Schrier & William F. Allman; Scribners, 1987. --This one has
everything from "Cross-country Skiing: The Hows of Wax" to "The Physiology
of Keeping Cool"

and "Keep Your Eye on the Ball: The Science and Folklore of Baseball" by
Robert G. Watts and A. Terry Bahill; Freeman, 1990. --This one is more
technical than the other.

Hope this helps.

Tom

HS Science Teacher & that inevitably occurs when attempting to communicate
Grad Student in information. It is the trap of forgetting what it's
