Hi Joe, Long time no e-see! My experience with Graphs & Tracks has been quite positive. My students find it quite engaging, and they do seem to gain some insight into the various kinematic relationships and their respective graphs. However, my evidence is all anecdotal. I have my students work in cooperative groups and submit hardcopies of the various solutions. I schedule this toward the end of the kinematics unit -- so that they have completed the Intro to Motion activities apres Laws, Sokolof, & Thornton. >it works ok but may not provide all the insight one would like Joe! This is probably true of most teaching devices, techniques, etc. No one approach or activity can stand alone (opinion). I'm certain that with most activities in the physics classroom, some students derive more understanding than others. I try to provide enough variety in the activities that (if I'm lucky) most students will find something with which they are compatible. Last night, at open house, a parent asked me if I always started each class with a lecture. The answer is NO. I try to schedule variety into my weeks -- variety within structure. Glad you're back on line, Cherie Cherie Lehman (-;> West Lafayette High School
