Sandy,
I recommend using the sonic ranger probe and the force probe in concert
with the "Tools for Scientific Thinking" (I think that's the title) by
David Sokoloff or with some of the Workshop Physics materials by
Priscilla Laws.  Both items are available as hard copy or on disk from
Vernier.  Students are guided through an exploration of motion and
force in a way that allows them to construct the meanings of the
concepts.  I love it, and so do my students!
