Just another comment on using component vectors. Projectile motion comes early in my course and component vectors is a very useful method for analyzing PM problems. Two-dimensional momentum-collision problems also lend themselves to component vector analysis. There are vector problems that when solved blindly using the Law of Sines yields incorrect results. There is a name for this situation (I always check with a math colleague) but I now cannot think of it. I have one such problem that I will, on occasion, slip into a test. Students need to understand the physics in order to avoid the incorrect solution. Lowell
