I have been having a discussion with another physics teacher who believes that there is no voltage inside the sphere of a Van de Graaff generator. I know that the electric field is zero but believe the voltage is constant and is the same as the surface value. Being a high school teacher I have trouble remembering those equations of thirty years ago. You don't use it so you lose it. The you being me. I would appreciate you thoughts and an explanation to convince me that I am wrong or ideas I can use to convince my friend that I am right. Of course I would be glad to learn the correct theory if both of us are wrong. It would not be the first time. Thanks for your time and I do enjoy reading this list.
