Hey there fellow grad students,

I'm Kim Stanley and I just joined PSYCGRAD. I attend Trinity Western
University in Langley, British Columbia. This is my first year of
Masters and has proved to be very character building. I'm interested in
pursuing my Ph.D. in psychology with the intention of eventually working
with young offenders when I am finished university. I have a question
for my fellow colleagues... graduate schools are known to be quite
expensive and I'm finding that it very difficult to get by. I was
wondering if any of you knew of alternative ways of financing one's
education. Let the discussion begin!

Sincerely, Kim Stanley

Well - many grad students I know are able to get teaching or research
assistantships which pay for tuition plus a cash stipend. I also know
several, including myself, who work full-time jobs in addition to being
full-time students. Such a position may be easier to procure once you
have your Masters degree. And, of course, there are many sorts of
scholarships and fellowships floating around out there that you can apply
for, especially if you're not a European-American male.
