----------------------------Original message---------------------------- I'm sorry, but you may be able to post as many statistics as you like, but from personal experience as a consultant who has also worked on the shop floor - fear doesn't work. Organizational cultures that are based on fear simply do not survive in the long haul. Why? Because fear reduces the creativity of people within the organization. It reduces people to mindless automatons who simply follow orders and are afraid to stray from their "operating parameters" handed down by their superiors. Stifling the workforce's creativity leads to lack of innovation. Lack of innovation leads to lack of competitiveness, which ultimately results in the death knell of a company. You cannot have fear present in an organization without losing its most important asset - its people. Robert Spector, BASc Manufacturing Performance Specialist Len Jacobs & Associates Inc.
