Will the team consisting of the Managing Director and his direct reports use the same system? Can everyone see what different people are working on and what their progress has been? > for small easily solved issues there is a paper based feedback form, that > contains information of how and who resolved the issue. Why not include that in the lotus notes as well? Are small easily solved problems of less importance than big complex problems? If they are, then not many will get done if there is no recognition for a job well done. > > > 1. Is this plan to centralise all projects a good idea? I wouldn’t describe it as centralising the projects. You are centralising the recording of them and have, I assume decentralised access to them. > > 2. What types of methodology would you recommend for our team leaders to > follow. At present we have a simple 8 point plan based on 8D. Almost any systematic improvement process can be made to work. The important parts are whether it is fact based, the people who do the work are involved in doing the work are involved in improving it and others are made aware of the improvement and can provide input that you might be sub-optimising a larger system. > > 3. How can we simply track and measure progress at a glance. Your list of 8 is fine. The one sticking point for many has been that improvements that involve a capital expenditure/investment may take months to get really implemented. Sometimes this leads to one of the greatest time and money savers in a lot of systems — the organisation’s purchasing system gets a really hard review and is streamlined.
