You raise a very interesting point.

Our company has developed a tool we call Mirror Analysis. The
tool is designed to provide two things.

1. Information about your organization's performance vis-a-vis
your competition as see though the eyes of your customers.

2. Given the customer's requirements identified in 1 above. A
rating of internal customer/supplier performance.

The tool is used to understand current levels of performance by
your organization and each of the silos internally and is the
basis for systematic improvement of this performance.

We have written this tool up in a white-paper that is about to be
published as an article.
