                      and obtaining a DRYCAS account
 
 
First, let me thank you for requesting information on joining the 
CMU Computer Club.  More than likely, you have expressed this 
interest in order to obtain a DRYCAS account.  Well, read on ...
 
The official statement of purpose for the club is that the CMU 
Computer Club is an independent organization, whose purpose is to 
promote the  widespread dissemination of knowledge concerning 
any and all aspects of computing.  In keeping with this statement of 
purpose, people in the Computing  Club are very friendly and willing 
to share their computing successes as well  as their failures to help 
others get along!
 
What can DRYCAS offer you?
With DRYCAS you will be able to:
     - send and receive electronic mail and files on the Internet
     - access Bitnet with real-time conferencing
     - access NetNews
     - play games on-line
 
If you are still interested in joining, simply send your name, address,
and phone number, along with a check made payable to CMU 
Computer Club, to:

Also, please include three possible usernames and an initial 
password so that your account may be activated.  Once we receive 
your dues we will contact you information on how you can activate

The rates for a DRYCAS account, shown below, are subject to 
change.  Should  you have any question about the rates, check the

        (Disk quota increases are available in any quantity as the
        billing system charges per individual block.  To increase
        your disk quota, send mail to ACCOUNTS.)
 
     Multiple login surcharge       $0.005/ minute
        (Multiple logins are having more than one connected 
        interactive process.  A 20 minute grace period is provided for 
        disconnected processes.  After the initial 20 minutes, you will
        be charged this surcharge for each process you have connected
        beyond the first.)

We are running a special on DRYCAS memberships now through June 15th, 1992.
 
If you are a currently subscribing DRYCAS member, and you put a payment
onto your account which is received by June 15th, we will add an additional
10% as a bonus when we apply your payment.  For example, if you pay $30
(for an additional year), we'll add another $3 giving you an extra 5 weeks!
 
Also, we've found that word-of-mouth is the best advertising, so if you
"recruit" a new DRYCAS member for us who sends in a payment of $30 which is
received by June 15th, we'll not only give the new user that 10% bonus, but
we'll give you a $5 credit (good for two extra months) as our thanks!  (New
members must include a note saying the username of the existing DRYCAS
member who "recruited" them.)
