You got it because some bozo decided that sending multiple copies of
his salespitch to everyone on the Internet was a clever thing to do.
There is no reliable way to kill it forever, unless you unsubscribe
from all your lists. However,
1. Don't make it worse. If you must post to the list about it, then
don't include three pages of listnames/addresses.
2. The best way to respond is to reply to the SENDER. Include the
entire text of his posting, plus all headers, etc. (that is, all
the stuff that you should NOT include if you post to the list.
Your subject line should be the one the sender suggests, so he
will read your reply. After including all his junk, you should
explain to him why what he is doing is a BAD THING. Do this in
whatever way you find appropriate.
Typically, when someone tries this network junkmail stunt, they get
buried in hostile responses (cf. the famous Green Card Lottery). Our
collective hope is that if everyone who abuses the net in this
fashion gets buried in flames, they'll learn that this is not a good
way to run their business.
