Dear Christian,

This sounds like a pretty typical programming problem,where one tyries to follow
program execution by putting in lots of writes to a trace file, and these tend
to grow in number and mess up the program structure. There are ways of cleaning
things up, but it depends on what the program is supposed to do and how
much of this text output is a part of the results and how much is there
only to make it
easier to see what is going on as the program executes.

If you are going to get any real help you will have to tell how long the program
is, its purpose and how is it structured. This database you are speaking of
seems to me to be the central issue. How do you communicate with this data base,
and what sort of database is it. Is it in the form of a separate program
which can intelligently parse incoming information and requests, or is it a
passive system of files which are dependent on this SIMULA program for sorting
in and retriving information ?????
