Dear subscribers to the SIMULA Language List,

I'm afraid that our Language List has been the object of some very unserious
solicitor. We will have to do something about it if this type of thing
starts happening more often.

I would like to remind all listeners of the coming conference of the
Association of SIMULA Users, in Prague, Sept 15 - 17. In my opinion this will be
a particularly interesting conference since the use of nested quasi-parallel
systems will be discussed more extensively than ever before. Programming
discrete event models in which the actors carry within themselves still other
discrete event models is proving to be an extremely powerful metod for modeling
very large and complex systems. These nested and branched hierarchies of
simulation models allow one to model the recursive system structures found in
real systems while still integrating all the subsystems into one total model at
runtime. The multiple views into real world systems with respect to technical
subsystems, information subsystems, human factors aspects, etc., can also be
modeled simultaneously in the same model using these methods, and their
complex interaction can be simulated.
