What are your thoughts on this matter??? >BCNU Lef (Bill Lefler/WO0E Kansas City KS) Sirens should be part of an integratede warning system including broadcast media and Weather Alert Radios, and the new Emergency Alerting System. Sirens are intended to provide warning to people engaged in outdoor activites to turn on radio or TV, news oriented station, to find out what is going on. They are a poor form of warning, the only problem is that there is nothng to replace them. In Texas tornados form in the rain free area of stroms, often in the traiing end of a line of storms. There have been occaision when people have gone outdoors after the rain has stopped only to have a tornado develop. There is a whole shopping list of problems with sirens, it all comes down to the fact that there is nothing to replace them that serves the same function as they do.
